What exactly is a DS-1?
Digital Signal 1 is a component of the Digital signal X series of standard digital transmission rates. Digital Signal X series are levels based on DS0, a transmission rate of 64 kilobits per second.
Both the North American T-carrier system and the European E-carrier system of transmission use the DS series as a base multiple. The carrier system carries the digital signal. DS-1 has a digital signal rate of 1.544 Mb/s under both the North American and Japanese T1 designator. DS-1 is a synonym for T1. DS-1 is the perfect option for a small or middle sized business. |
